When & Where Northern Lights Will Be Visible in New England in 2025

Mark your calendars now - the northern lights will not only be visible next year, but they will be at their peak (maximum glow) as they hit New England states next year.

The northern lights are otherworldly. Like many others, seeing them is on my bucket list.

For years, many believed that in order to see the phenomenon that is the northern lights, you would need to travel.

This summer taught us differently.

Just this summer over Lake Winnipesaukee, the northern lights glowed a gorgeous haze of green, red, and purple.

And next year maybe even bigger, brighter, and more memorable.

According to a Boston Uncovered article, "Astrologists report that Solar Cycle 25, a celestial event, will reach its peak by July 2025," and the northern lights will be visible in various parts of New England.

Now this is over 10 months from now - so things may change.

That said, the predictions are for July of 2025 in areas where light pollution is minimal - northern New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont.

And of course, the best times to see them will be between 10 PM and 2 AM.

For now, put it on your calendar. Maybe reserve a campsite for a week in July of next year.
