Top Comedy Podcast Gushes About Portland, Maine, Vibes and Food Scene
Girls Gotta Eat Podcast is a top comedy podcast about dating a relationships hosted by comedians and besties Ashley Hesseltine and Rayna Greenberg.
They have been doing their thing, releasing new episodes every week since 2016. Their fun and flirty podcast has expanded into an amazingly successful brand with merchandise, live shows, they even launched their own line of sex toys!
As a woman in media, I watch these successful, hard working women, and instead of feeling envy (which, I'm human, I've experienced pangs of longing now and then) I try to redirect my energy into feeling emboldened by what they have built. It shows me that it's possible. They are a completely female run operation and have found significant success in this industry. We love to see it!
On Halloween, they had a live show in Portland Maine and decided to take an extra day and really soak up all of what Portland has to offer. As someone who has called that city home, I would say they did it right!
One of the hosts, Ashley, put a slide on her Instagram story, asking her followers for food/activity recommendations in Portland. Man, the people delivered!
Mind you, these chicks were only there for 48 hours, but they managed to hit a lot of spots in their finite time. They raved about the impeccable vibes of the city and how it's so modern, yet historic at the same time.
Here are the local businesses the GGE ladies supported during their time in Portland:
Ashley mentioned that one of the most popular recs that she received was Eventide Oyster Co. She said the brown butter lobster roll completely changed her life and after taking the first few bites she ordered another. It was that good.
They also had lobster rolls at Portland Lobster Company. (It appears they were on a quest for the best lobby roll in the city)
They got their morning coffee at Bard Coffee:
OF COURSE they had to try the poutine fries at Duckfat. They are so legendary:
They got a little fancy 'wit it at Scales which is one of my favorite spots. And they ordered the scallops! Well done!
It is customary for the girlies to try pizza from the show's native land that they munch down on in the green room after performing. They went with Lazzari which looks like an excellent choice:
It is unclear if they actually went into $3 Dewey's. Ashley has a strong love for Dewey Beach in Delaware and her late dog was also named Dewey, so she could have just been a fan of the sign!
These ladies fit a lot into a quick trip and I am super impressed! Do you think they missed any key spots? Where is the #1 place you tell people to go when they are visiting Portland?
