Kid Rock’s Boyhood ‘Paradise’ Can Be Yours for $600,000
In his song "Cowboy," Kid Rock boasted, "I'm not straight outta Compton / I'm straight out the trailer." He may have been exaggerating a bit, because the 22-room estate on which the former Bob Ritchie grew up is up for sale for $600,000.
Located in Bruce Township, Mich., roughly 40 miles north of Detroit, the five-bedroom, seven bathroom (four full, three half), 5,660-square-foot house sits on a 5.5-acre lot. It was built in 1972, when Rock was only one year old, and, according to realtor.com, has remained in Rock's family. Kid Rock's father, Bill Ritchie, owned several local car dealerships.
"American badass' childhood home," reads the listing at Morgan & Mizlow, referencing the title of his 2000 hit. "Homestead on 5 panoramic acres with all that's expected of a mini estate of 5,660+ square feet. Renovated to the T [in] 2004 and gently lived in are 5 bedrooms/4.3 bathrooms, 5 car garage plus partially finished walkout and guest house. Classy chic, warm and inviting for the relaxed country gentleman or the entertaining driven profile. Grand spaces independent of cozy quarters adds to the charm as does the inviting guest house, 3 stall horse barn, regulation tennis court and inground pool."
The listing describes the property as "paradise found" and asks visitors to "please be respectful" due to the "extensive security and surveillance" on the grounds.
This Friday (Aug. 3), Kid Rock will begin the "Red Blooded Rock N Roll Redneck Extravaganza" tour at Darling's Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor, Maine. He has dates booked through Oct. 13, when he concludes at the Coral Sky Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Fla. You can see all the dates here.
