L.L. Bean Freezing Pensions, Considering Changes To Shipping And Return Policy
L.L. Bean is looking to reduce costs by freezing employee pensions, offering early retirement to employees and will also consider changing its return and shipping policies.
According to an Associated Press story in the Boston Globe, company officials said they would be freezing its current pension programs and will be increasing its 401(k) contributions to all of its workers.
But the changes under consideration that would impact the public the most are changes to the company's free shipping and return policy. The story said company officials said satisfaction guaranteed policy was "so liberal that it's led to abuse of the return policy." No specifics were given about any changes, but the story said the company would address the issue later this year.
The changes are expected to go into effect next year.
