There are few things more American than sitting down at a restaurant and ordering a delicious burger and fries off the menu. That's why you'll find a burger or many different burger options on most restaurant menus across the country.

Which makes the search for the best burger an ongoing battle, especially in a crowded culinary city like Portland, Maine. Everybody is looking for something a little different, something that sets one burger apart from the rest. Something that truly makes it 'craveable'.

According to Timeout, the most 'craveable' burger in Maine exists at a small restaurant in Portland. That would be Little Tap House, just a short walk from entertainment venues like the State Theater and Cross Insurance Arena.

Timeout mentions that Little Tap House serves up what would be considered a simple smash burger. And yet, it's simplicity and the way it's prepared makes it truly craveable. The key is the two all-beef smash patties and the delicate yet divine special sauce that goes with the lettuce, cheese, pickles, onion on a sesame seed roll. Sounds familiar, right?

While the burger itself may be truly 'craveable', Timeout suggests that someone else in your party try a few other things on the menu as well. Items like the polenta fries and steak frites may end up becoming just as craveable for you or someone else.

Little Tap is open for dinner service from 4 to 9pm Wednesday through Friday. They have extended weekend hours, opening from Noon through 9pm both Saturday and Sunday. They offer a happy hour from 4-6pm as well.
