Some stories just hit you in "the feels", as they say.

This story shared by Amanda Dunn on Facebook encompasses so much of what we all have been going through these past few months.

Amanda is a mom and her kids had to finish out their 5th and 8th-grade years at home and missed out on the typical graduations to middle school and high school.

On top of that, this family experienced the loss of one of the boy's friends less than two months ago. A burden that no one, especially teenagers should ever have to bear.

In an effort to celebrate the boys' accomplishments, the family decided to go out to eat. An extra special treat since, until recently, dining out wasn't even an option.

Feeling the grief of the loss of the friend they decided to go where he would have liked to eat, Applebee's in Bangor.

This just goes to show that you never know the true power of an act of kindness. You never know what an individual or family is going through.

I hope this story inspires more people to pay it forward. We need it now more than ever.
