Maine Staple Ranked as One of the Best Sandwiches in the World
A Maine culinary staple was recently listed as a favorite food by a worldwide audience. The lobster roll is a global delicacy, folks.
The popular culinary site LoveFood recently published a list of the best sandwiches worldwide. The site actually went ahead and ranked the best 40, and sure enough, the lobster roll easily made the cut. The popular crustacean handheld came in at a very respectable 17th.
This list of sandwiches is a 1927 Yankees-like murderer's row lineup. Just heavy hitter after heavy hitter. Sandwiches like cheesesteaks, tortas, banh mis, and BLTs are just a small sample of what can be found in the rankings. While it may have its origins in Connecticut, nobody has perfected the lobster roll like Maine. And nowhere else is it more prevalent. It can be found from fast food joints to fine dining restaurants. Maine lobster rolls come in every variety imaginable, with every possible topping you could think of. And we haven't even gotten to the bread options yet. I have seen lobster rolls on the classic hot dog bun, to large sub rolls, and even on beautifully golden puff pastry. The options and creativity seem endless.
Here is a little of why LoveFood included the lobster roll in its top 40.

Oh, and if you are wondering, the grilled cheese got the #1 ranking. I can live with that.
