According to the Social Security Administration, Maine joined most other states in the nation when it came to the most popular baby names for 2025.

For girls, Charlotte was the most popular baby name in Maine with 89 newborns receiving that name in 2025.
For boys, Theodore was the most popular baby name in Maine with 83 newborns headed for a future of being called Theo.
The other most popular baby names in 2025 for Maine newborns include Amelia, Oliver, Eleanor, Henry, Violet and Noah. Many of those names are classic and clearly making a return.
Some People Have Been Inspired by Maine For Baby Names
Over the past couple of decades, there have been more instances than ever of people pulling inspiration from the state of Maine to name their baby.
That inspiration has come in many forms. From names of lakes or mountains to islands and of course, towns and cities throughout the state.
Using Maine as inspiration can be tricky, however. Because there are quite a few places that may sound like a wonderfully unique name until the future comes at you fast.
