Classic Roadside Motel in Maine Set to Be Auctioned Off
There are still pieces of the past scattered around the state of Maine if you know where to find them.
From places with rich history like old forts and lighthouses to places with a different history like an iconic drive-in restaurant. Maine has changed over the years but not that much.
Over the course of the last six decades, those that regularly travel along Route 26 in Maine have spotted the same classic motel as they pass through the small town of Woodstock.
The Mollyockett Motel.
The Mollyockett Motel Will Go Up For Auction on July 22, 2026
From the outside, the Mollyockett Motel looks like a time capsule. The 20-room motel is a throwback to the days when motor lodges sprawled across the country.

In 2023, the Mollyockett Motel was put up for sale by its owners, Tim and Frank Buck. It was sold to a Utah man hoping to use the property as a retirement investment. It didn't work out.
For many of the 22 years the Buck family owned it, the Mollyockett Motel has operated unconventionally. While it has welcomed guests for short stays, the motel had become a landing spot for individuals and families that were down on their luck and unable to find more permanent housing in the area.
Attempts to sell the long standing motel over the last year or so were unsuccessful and now it will head to auction.
The Mollyockett Motel and Swim Spa Entered Into Foreclosure
A real estate auction is set for Wednesday, July 22 at 11am for the Mollyockett Motel in Woodstock. The auction is due to the property entering into a foreclosure status.
Built in 1968, the Mollyockett is fit for 20 rooms with the potential to move up to 30 rooms. There was an indoor pool added to the property in 1980 and then a restaurant and function room sometime around 2007.
The motel's condition was graded as good and it could be a terrific fixer upper for an interested party.
