Just about one year ago, a proposal came before the Portland, Maine, planning board for a new concert venue near the waterfront.

The venue would be located over by WEX along Fore Street and would cater towards local and regional acts while simultaneously serving as a space for gathering and events.

That venue proposal and the subsequent construction seems to have flown under the radar for most people throughout Portland.

Because that new music venue, called Live at Madrid's, is on the precipice of its grand opening in the city.

Live at Madrid's in Portland, Maine, Announces First Concerts

According to MaineBiz, Live at Madrid's will be a roughly 800-person venue that will be slightly larger than the beloved and not forgotten Port City Music Hall.

Live at Madrid's initially hoped to be open before the end of 2025. After a few delays, Live at Madrid's has rolled out their first few shows scheduled for the new venue.

The first scheduled show that has been announced is for Saturday, April 18 featuring local band Rigometrics as the headliner.

Additional shows featuring acts like Murcielago, the Mallett Brothers Band and Sparks the Rescue have also been announced.

Live at Madrid's in Portland, Maine, Will Have An Interesting Design

According to the Portland Press Herald, Live at Madrid's will be shaped like a giant L when people walk inside.

At one end of the L, there will be the main stage for most performances.

Opposite that, there will be a smaller stage that could be used for comedians, podcasts or even karaoke.

Live at Madrid's design will let it cater to events like weddings and corporate gatherings as well.
