For about a year, we have been hearing that a group of Augusta-area developers have been working on doing something with the one remaining building from Augusta's Edwards Manufacturing mill.

Tobias Parkhurst, one of the minds behind Cushnoc Brewing, and lawyer James Bass had been discussing opening a wine and tapas establishment in that building.  However, as the timeline for the project took longer than expected, the person they had envisioned operating the business found another opportunity in the Gardiner area.

Additionally, there was some concerns from people living in that park of the City of Augusta that a wine bar would not necessarily be the best business for that area.

Taking those comments into account, it appears they have shifted their concept for the establishment.

According to the KJ, once the aging brick building has been renovated, it will be home to the Sand Hill Bagel Company.

The new bagel place will be operated by general manager Sara Holt-Moseson.  According to the article, she previously worked for Starbucks and as a food blogger.  Since moving from Alberta to Augusta, she has been working on restaurants in her apartment's kitchen.

The two story, 60' by 30', building will seat about 50 people.  Once up and running, the business could employ as many as 35 people.  Providing there are no issues, the plan is for the business to open by Spring 2023.
