Granite State Secrets: New Hampshire Lands #3 in Cheating Study
New Hampshire, known for its picturesque landscapes and "Live Free or Die" motto, has recently found itself in the spotlight for a less-than-flattering reason. According to the New York Post, a study by adult webcam site Instacams was conducted and revealed that the state ranks third in the nation for the highest number of searches for affair-friendly dating apps like Ashley Madison, with 357 monthly searches per 100,000 residents.
This revelation is particularly intriguing given New Hampshire's traditional values. According to a Forbes Health survey, they found that 61% of New Hampshire residents consider a single instance of sexual intimacy outside the relationship as cheating, and 57% view kissing someone else as a betrayal. I thought both of those numbers seem on the low side.
So, what's driving this apparent contradiction? According to Carsey School of Public Policy, some suggest that the state's high marriage rate of 7.0 per 1,000 people and a divorce rate of 2.5 per 1,000 might contribute to a desire for discreet connections outside traditional relationships. Additionally, the state's population growth, fueled by an influx of residents from other states could be introducing new dynamics into the local dating scene.
At the end of the day, New Hampshire still looks like a picture-perfect postcard, but clearly, there’s a lot more going on under the surface. Whether it’s the thrill of sneaking around or just people looking for a little extra excitement, it seems like plenty of Granite Staters might be spicing up their love lives in their own... creative ways.
According to the NY Post, these are the top 5 states that are looking to cheat based on monthly searches.
