While so many malls across the country continue to struggle, the Maine Mall in South Portland continues to add new and exciting options. That includes a sister-store to the wildly popular Hot Topic chain that is set to open in the not-too-distant future.

It's called BoxLunch, and for many shoppers throughout New England, it's a retail chain they're familiar with. There are BoxLunch stores in operation right now in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

What is BoxLunch?

While the name would suggest it's a restaurant, it's most definitely not. BoxLunch is an offshoot of Hot Topic that features a ton of licensed and unlicensed merchandise centered around Disney and other pop culture phenomena.

It's not cool tees, either. BoxLunch offers a wide selection of wallets, collectibles, home goods. and beauty items that appeal to shoppers of all ages.

Why is the Store Called BoxLunch?

BoxLunch is a civic-minded enterprise, which is where the store got its name. Since its inception, for every $10 shoppers spend at BoxLunch, the store donates a meal to Feeding America, which helps get hot meals in front of people who need them.

The Maine Mall Just Keeps Adding

In September, the Maine Mall added the first Miniso location in Maine to the mix. Miniso features a mix of stylish clothing items, toys and plushies, household items, cosmetics, and even some electronics as well. It's located near American Eagle and Newbury Comics.

No Grand Opening Date...Yet

BoxLunch will operate right next to Team Spirit in a heavy-traveled area of the mall. As of this writing, there's no grand opening date for the store, but it should be coming very soon.
