While everyone walks around with a high powered computer in their hand, there's still something truly human about sitting down with some friends and playing an old fashioned board game.

According to Business Wire, board games have making a huge comeback in the United States. Popularity has surged as families and friends look for ways to have authentic connection over staring at their phones for hours. A new gaming cafe set to open in Westbrook hopes to capitalize on that.

Owlbear's Rest Will Open at Stockhouse Station in Westbrook This Spring

The new gaming cafe will be called Owlbear's Rest as an homage to the classic Dungeons & Dragons role playing game. It will be located inside the Stockhouse Station plaza right next to the Stockhouse restaurant and sports pub.

The space at 506 Main Street is being finished up and Owlbear's Rest has set their grand opening date for Friday, May 30.

Owlbear's Rest Will Feature Different Spaces For Gamers to Choose Their Own Adventure

Owlbear's Rest plans on welcoming gamers for casual drop-ins as well as holding themed nights feature some classic as well as up-and-coming board games.

Their cafe will serve up Bard coffee and other delicious snacks for those that want to drop by for a quick visit. They'll also have a stay-and-play area for gamers that plan to spend hours at Owlbear's and need a place to settle in.

For longer visits, there will be a gaming fee. Owlbear's Rest is offering memberships to reduce those gaming fees and help build a larger and consistent gaming community.
