As the pandemic continues to put restrictions on some indoor activities, more and more people are looking for fun things to do outside in Maine. One of the activities that has been enjoyed for centuries is ice skating. Typically, you'd find ice skating available to the public at a lot of local arenas around Maine for a small fee. But now? How about ice skating outdoors? You can do just that, and do it for free at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester all winter long.

Pineland Farms has officially opened their large outdoor skating rink the public. It's open 7 days a week from dawn to dusk. You can find daily updates on the skating rink right here. There is no skate rental, so you'll have to bring your own to enjoy the rink. Because of ongoing pandemic restrictions, the rink itself is limited to 22 people at a time and if it's at capacity, you'll have to hang tight for a bit. But it may be worth it, because there's no entrance fee whatsoever.

You can also make a full day of it at Pineland Farms if you'd like. When conditions allow, they have a free sledding hill as well as snow shoeing and cross country skiing. And for the winter, they've unveiled rentable snow globes where you can kick back after some skating, sip some hot chocolate and relax in comfortable conditions.

More details about parking and other amenities that Pineland Farms offers can be found at their website. Enjoy.
