Popular Restaurant The Friendly Toast Opens First Maine Location in Portland
For many years now, one of the most popular brunch spots in all of New England has been a quirky and fun restaurant known as The Friendly Toast. Founded in 1994, the all-day-brunch stop has been growing over the last 25 years to include additional locations in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont. But what about Maine? The wait is officially over, as The Friendly Toast has opened their first Maine location in at 211 Fore Street in Portland.
Shared on Facebook by The Friendly Toast, the restaurant officially opened their doors on Monday, October 3, to a very enthusiastic crowd. The Friendly Toast took over the vacated space left behind by Sebago Brewing Company, and have joined a busy group of restaurants in that area of the Old Port including Eventide, Duckfat, and The Honey Paw. The Friendly Toast will add a different flare to the existing group of popular restaurants nearby.
If you haven't had a chance to visit The Friendly Toast, the atmosphere may feel similar to the longtime Portland favorite, Silly's. Bright colors and decorations abound all through their restaurants, and unlike many other stuffy brunch spots, The Friendly Toast often feels like a party at 9am. Their menu is filled with creative signature brunch dishes and cocktails, including their breakfast tacos and wake-me-up dreamsicle drink. The vibe is that of a quirky diner.
The Friendly Toast will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 3:00pm. They'll have extended hours on the weekends, operating from 8:00am until 5:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.
