Popular O2 Salon in Portland Closing for Good at the End of January
With so much attention in Portland on the restaurant and beer industry, it's easy to forget that city is home to so many other fantastic businesses that have made their mark over the years. That includes the O2 Salon, which has spent more than a decade along Congress Street next to the State Theatre making people look a whole lot better than when they walked in the doors.
But by the end of January, the strain of the pandemic will have cost Maine another great local business.
Shared on Facebook by O2 Salon, the owner shared a heartfelt thanking the many customers and neighbors that have frequented the salon over the last 12 years.
Salons, like many other businesses, have had to adjust their business model significantly due to restrictions on the amount of people that can be inside at once. Those restrictions squeeze everything, from employees pockets to the business bottomline.
The owner encourages all customers to visit O2 salon one more time before they close for good on Thursday, January 28th, especially those who may have gift cards. For those who may be attached to a certain O2 stylist, the owner promises to maintain the salon's website and social media pages even after closure to let customers know where those stylists have moved to along their career path.
In the comments under the closure post, O2 Salon mentions that a select number of the currently O2 stylists are planning on opening a salon together in the same neighborhood in the not too distant future.
