Ramen Suzukiya on Congress Street in Portland has been a popular place to grab a bowl of Ramen for people living and working the city for the past few years. It has a 4.5 star rating on Yelp, and plenty of glowing reviews on their Facebook page. Sadly though, the restaurant hours will be off and on for a while, but for good reason.

Owner Katsuaki (Kei) Suzuki announced on Ramen Suzukiya's Facebook page that he has been diagnosed with cancer and is about to begin chemotherapy treatment. As he and his family focus on his health, the hours of the restaurant will be 'unpredictable.'

Clearly appreciative of his customers, Kei said that his staff will do their best to keep serving up the ramen and hopes to be back to more regular hours when he returns.

I think we can all agree that the ramen may be delicious, but Kei's health and well being is much more important. Best of luck with your treatment Kei and we can't wait to see you back and healthy in the kitchen serving up your happy customers again soon.
