In a world of ugly news, let's try something good for a change. The Portland Fire Department took to Facebook to share a call they received on Tuesday morning. It was from a 97-year-old resident asking if the fire department could help her repair a broken rope on her flagpole so that she could raise a brand new American Flag prior to Independence Day.

The Fire Department sent Ladder 34 to assist and helped the woman with repairs and discovered that she was the widow of a Pearl Harbor veteran. The platoon was happy to help her raise the flag at her residence and posed for a photo with her after.
