As Portland, Maine, continues to grow, both in residents as well as tourism, several issues are popping up for the city. Some of those issues are well noted, like the crunch on available parking and the high price of rentable units.

When you combine those two factors, more people than ever are living in the city without a vehicle. Which leads to another issue. Grocery stores or places within walking distance that sell small items. From a can of dog food to a tube of toothpaste.

A New Convenience Store is Set to Open on Fore Street in Portland's Old Port

The Aggressive Cookie Hopes to Fill the Void Left Behind by City Beverage

There had been a longtime convenience store in the Old Port that many people who strolled the city didn't even realize existed. That would be City Beverage, who marketed itself with a sign that became local folklore. It simply read "BEER LOTTO WINE CIGS".

Following the passing of longtime Portland landlord Joe Soley, City Beverage closed permanently. The Aggressive Cookie looks to pick up where it left off with better visibility and signage to attract new customers.
