New Pizza and Pub Restaurant Opening in Portland, Maine

Most of the restaurant openings in Portland, Maine, seem to be concentrated in one certain area.

That would be downtown Portland, which encompasses the business and arts district as well as the Old Port.

But there's a whole different side of Portland where people work, play and need to dine that probably isn't catered to enough.

And soon there will be a new pizza and pub restaurant that is attempting to fill that void.

Playmakers Pizza and Pub Slated to Open in Portland, Maine

According to Portland Food Map, the owners behind popular Westbrook, Maine, spots like Legends Rest and Paper City Barbecue are set to bring another new place to the area, Playmakers Pizza and Pub.

It'll be part of the Portland Sports Complex located on Warren Avenue.

Playmakers will be feature pizza by the slice as well as a traditional pub fare like burgers, chicken sandwiches, nachos, wings and more.

The restaurant was formerly Turf's Sports Grill which closed several months ago. Renovations are ongoing right now.

The Portland Sports Complex is Home to Several Other Businesses

If you're unfamiliar with the Portland Sports Complex where Playmakers will be located, there are several other businesses that call it home.

One longtime tenant is the Fitness Factory. The 24-hour gym has been operating at the Portland Sports Complex for years.

Another is the Goldfish Swim School, which offers swimming lessons to children up to 12 years old.

As of this writing, there is no grand opening date set for Playmakers Pizza and Pub in Portland.
