Portland Restaurant Chaval Was a Vaccine Booster Clinic

It was so popular they are doing it again next week!

On Sunday, News Center Maine reported that Chaval, a very popular French restaurant in Portland's West End had people lined up not for the food, but for a hard to come by vaccine booster shot. Chaval partnered up with Local Roots Health Care. You had your choice of Moderna, Pfizer, or Johnson & Johnson.

I thought it was just me, but I've had a heck of a time finding an appointment. I finally booked one, but it's after Christmas. The owners of Chaval know that boosters are part of the plan to get us all back together. There are even reports about appointments being canceled and people not knowing until they drove 45 minutes. Chaval is a neighborhood restaurant, and they wanted to make it as accessible as possible for their neighbors.

Chaval owner Ilma Lopez told News Center Maine,

We're a neighborhood place; we're right next to a school, and we're in this together. So the healthier we all are, the sooner we can pass the page.

Area businesses are stepping up and helping! Other places have also held events like this. Portland's Little Woodford's coffee shop also recently held a booster clinic.

Chaval isn't done helping and will be at it again with another vaccine clinic next Sunday, December, 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
