Primus and Coheed + Cambria to Play Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine This Summer
Your summer concert road trip just got a little bit more interesting thanks to a unique pairing for bands that will liven up the waterfront in Portland, Maine, for one night this August.
The State Theatre has announced that Primus – as well as Coheed and Cambria – will be performing live at Thompson's Point on Tuesday, August 13. This tour is a co-headlining performance, meaning both bands will have lengthy sets.
Primus is no stranger to performing in Portland. The band has repeatedly visited the city over the last decade. They've played the State Theater, the Maine State Pier and most recently, the Cross Insurance Arena in 2021.
While Primus's latest album, Conspiranoid, hit stores in 2022, fan forums have suggested that the band is working on a live album and may use portions of their 2024 tour on the rumored piece. Primus hasn't confirmed such a project exists.
Coheed and Cambria has also visited Portland in the past. In 2015, they played to a packed State Theater filled with enthusiastic fans. But it's been nearly a decade and a couple albums since the people of Maine have seen them perform live.
Coheed and Cambria's last studio album, Vaxis - Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind hit stores in 2022. The band spent most of 2023 playing their 2007 album, "No World For Tomorrow" in full alongside some of their favorites from Vaxis - Act II.
Tickets will go on sale for Primus (as well as Coheed and Cambria) at Thompson's Point on February 23 at 10am. This is an all-ages, general admission show.
