Relax and Camp Overnight at this Lavender Farm in Maine
Lavender is supposed to be calming, every night I use lavender essential oil to relax. However, I just found out that there is a lavender farm in Maine.
Braun's Riverside Lavender Farm is located only 30 minutes from Portland, located on the banks of the Saco River, and is privately owned and operated by retired Master Gunnery Sergeant Mark Braun and his wife Tammy.
According to Braun's Riverside Lavender Farm's website, if you want to immerse yourself in the beauty of lavender, the second week of July is when the lavender will be at its peak. However, the lavender fields are in bloom from the third week of June through the end of August every year.
Braun's Riverside Lavender Farm offers many other activities for individuals of all ages. According to their website, from April to the end of September they offer many private classes for wreath making, painting, children's exploration and art opportunities, cookie and lemonade parties, and social time with their Nigerian Dwarf goat herd.
Let's take a closer look at some of these activities. For $50 you can build your own lavender wreath that will look perfect in your home or on your door. If you do not want to make your own, they do have some available for purchase.
Braun's Riverside Lavender Farm also offers a $15 "Princess Picnic," which could be a perfect mommy and me day out. You will receive a picnic basket with lavender lemonade and lavender sugar cookies to share. Every "princess" will also get a halo of lavender and either a princess cape or tutu to wear during the picnic. After the picnic, you will be escorted to spend time with the Nigerian Dwarf herd.
One of the coolest things that Braun's Riverside Lavender Farm offers is an onsite camping opportunity. That's right, you can spend the night on the lavender farm. If you're like me, you wouldn't need any essential oils that night.
According to Tentrr.com, you can stay overnight in a tent that has one queen bed. The tent can only comfortably fit two people at a time. If you choose to stay overnight, you will have just about everything that you need: bed linens, towels, dishes and cooking supplies, a bbq grill, and even two kayaks.
If you are interested in spending the night by the water and next to fields of lavender, you can book your stay here.
