It's an understatement to say that things have changed when it comes to restaurants Portland, Maine, over the last 10 or 20 years. Many of the longtime standard bars and restaurants that were the cornerstone of the Old Port no longer exist today.

Most of the those restaurants and bars have simply thrown in the towel. They had a great run and decided that run was over. But others saw the changing landscape of the city and decided to pick up and move elsewhere.

Longtime Portland, Maine, Restaurant Sapporo Decided to Leave the City Behind

One of the those longtime restaurants was Sapporo. Sapporo spent nearly four decades operating in Portland and has been a staple along Commercial Street for as long as many people can remember.

Late last summer, Sapporo announced that they would be departing their space in Portland and reopening in Falmouth. New space but same great menu and service that customers came to know and love in Portland.

Sapporo is Ready to Open Their New Falmouth, Maine, Location

According to Portland Food Map, Sapporo is ready to showcase their brand new location in Falmouth. The new Sapporo restaurant will be located in the Wyeth Building. The Wyeth is a new development of upscale condos directly off I-295 and located conveniently next to Falmouth Shopping Center.

Sapporo had closed their Portland location at the end of January and after a brief stint in the dark, will hold their grand opening in Falmouth on Monday, March 31. Their website states they'll be open for lunch and dinner six days per week and closed on Sunday.
