The first major snowstorm of the season has come, but is not gone. And for some towns in Maine that's a problem.

There are several towns and cities in Maine that have not filled snow plow driver positions. Several municipalities in the state say they have multiple open positions for plow drivers still available, according to WGME.com.

The same thing happened last year, according to the article, where Maine is beginning to see a generational turnover as several public work employees are getting ready to retire in the next few years and the younger generation isn't filling those positions.

WGME.com reports that Maine DOT Regional Manager Robert McFerren said it's not only obtaining plow drivers, but keeping them as well. Maine DOT has increased the wage for plow drivers by $3.50 an hour which has brought in a lot more applications so positions can be filled.
