Starting Tuesday, NH will have a new law on the books that changes the marrying age. You can no longer get married at 13 for girls and 14 for boys!

Now you have to wait until the ripe ol' age of 16 for both boys and girls. 13 years old? Has anyone gotten married in NH at 13?

According to WMTW:

The bill was championed by Cassie Levesque, who was a senior in high school in 2017 when she began her push to raise the marriage age as part of a Girl Scouts project. Now 19, she won a seat in the House representing Barrington and plans to push to increase the marriage age to 18.

Even 18 is young. According to the most recent estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the average age of first marriage for women in 2017 was 27.4 years. For men, it's slightly older at 29.5 years.

Either way, 13 is ridiculous and must have been some leftover law from back in the pilgrim days or something. So hang on, NH girls and boys!
