Maine's biggest Fourth of July party almost got scrapped in 2018, and the annual tradition of music on the Eastern Prom from the PSO was ended as well.

The annual fireworks show draws about 50,000 Mainers from all over the state who come and watch the 4th of July show which is accompanied by music from the Portland Symphony Orchestra.

Towns all across Maine will be lighting up the night sky with spectacular fireworks, but not all of them will be on July 4th.

For the third year in a row, Mainers can legally purchase fireworks to celebrate the Fourth of July, but they should check to see if their city or town allows them before they launch their rockets red glare, according to WMTW.
