“Save Maine Stages” Film Features A Who’s Who of Portland’s Music Scene
We all know that there are no concerts right now. And that sucks. But for the Portland music industry, it's devastating. Back in March when venues closed, it seemed like it was only a weekend of lost revenue….but that has turned into an entire year and more of lost income. While COVID cases rise and restrictions remain in place, our venues have no safe way in which to re-open. Over 1,000 concert events have been lost along with 90% of their revenue. The venue closures affect musicians, agents, promoters, managers, thousands of employees, and fans in ways that are profound and direct…..though at the center of it all our independent venues have been affected in ways that are almost incalculable.
