Thing certainly look different for many visitors to Portland, Maine, this summer. Over the last year or so, there's been some pretty significant turnover when it comes to established restaurants and bars closing for good and fresh faces opening up.

One of the more established places in Portland to close was The North Point. The cocktail and light bite bar had been a staple in the city for more than a decade.

But a familiar face to the culinary scene in the Portland area has taken over that space at 35 Silver Street

According to Portland Old Port, the popular Indian cuisine restaurant Taj is ready for their grand opening in Portland, Maine, on Thursday, August 28.

The cocktail bar/restaurant will be called Silver Street by Taj and will feature a small, rotating menu of signature dishes, some of which have made the South Portland Taj location a massive success. There will also be some new dishes made just for this location as well as a full creative bar program.

Silver Street by Taj Will Be Much Different Than Taj in South Portland

 

If you're a fan of all things Taj Restaurant in South Portland, you'll need to be prepared that Silver Street by Taj will be much different.

Silver Street by Taj is a cocktail-forward operation. According to the Portland Press Herald, Silver Street by Taj will be offering 'reasonably-priced' cocktails and craft beer, hoping to draw in a crowd that may be shut out by prices at other establishments.

Silver Street by Taj will be open every day from 5pm until 1am.
