You know you live in Maine when people across the state know that there's an 'infamous' yellow pole in the parking lot of a Walmart in Auburn. There have been so many accidents with the pole in a short amount of time, there probably should be a thorough investigation into whether this pole has a magnetic presence. Walmart has tried different tactics in hopes of deterring drivers from smashing into poles in the parking lot and so far, they haven't worked. How do we know? Well, you get one guess on what happened this past weekend.

Shared on Facebook in the Lewiston Rocks group by Tia Roy, yet another car met its fate over the holiday weekend after a collision with a yellow pole. Some commenters mentioned that this may not even be THE yellow pole, meaning that every yellow pole in the Auburn, Maine Walmart parking lot is likely cursed. As frustrating as this has been for drivers, it's been equally frustrating for Walmart who has to repair and replace poles at a rate that is almost comical.

So after caution tape, reflectors and orange cones didn't get the job done, Walmart is willing to try anything at this point to get people to stop playing demolition derby with inanimate objects. Shared on Facebook by Fast Lane, at least one of the damaged poles has been painted green. Perhaps the color change will help drivers identify the pole while turning at a better rate than the yellow one. It can't be any worse, right?

By the way, because of the sheer amount of ridiculous collisions with yellow poles, a Facebook group has been started for 'Survivors of Walmart Yellow Pole' that focuses in on Auburn. What a time to be alive.
