The Skowhegan State Fair Has Added a Circus This Year!

The Skowhegan State Fair, the longest consecutively running fair in the entire United States of America, is set to open its doors to the public once again on Thursday, August 12th. The fair will run all the way through Saturday the 21st and will feature dozens of the same attractions you've come to know and love about the Skowhegan Fair. However, there will be some things you haven't seen before, too!

According to the Skowhegan Fair schedule on their website, in addition to the demolition derby, North Atlantic Wrestling, blackout bingo, magic shows, horse racing and truck pulls, the fair has added a circus to the events lineup for 2021.

Based out of Sarasota, Florida, the Royal Hanneford Circus will be taking over the midway entertainment area for three different shows on weekdays and four shows on the weekend. And no, it's not like the 'Hannaford' circus where clerks swing on a trapeze over the deli counter, it's Hanneford... like the Hanneford family!

While we're not completely certain which acts they're bringing to Maine, their website lists all kinds of things that they do at many of their shows. Acts include flying trapeze, motorcycle on a wire, the high wire, human cannonballs, juggling, globe of death (motorcycles), tigers, elephants, camels and more! Again, we're not certain which acts are coming to Skowhegan specifically, these are just some of the really cool things listed on their site.
