It's no secret that Maine has some world class restaurants. Eventide in Portland has been getting praise from just about everywhere, and a number of other hip spots have elevated Portland to a spot on many a top 10 list of food cities. That restaurant mastery and recognition is spreading out from Portland, though, to some great effect.

As reported yesterday by the Portland Press Herald, Bon Appetit just released it's list of the 50 best new restaurants in the whole country, and included two from our humble little state. The two in question are The Purple House in Yarmouth, and Nina June in Rockport. Both are contenders for Bon Appetit's Hot 10 list, which will be announced on August 15th.

The Purple House is well known, at least locally, for their bagels. I can attest to that - I'm not a huge bagel person, but those things are dynamite. I haven't yet had the pleasure of stopping by Nina June, but I'll have to make my way up there as soon as I can.

Have you been to these two hot new spots? Tell us what you think in the comments!
