On Monday, Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston announced on their website that they would not be taking some patient admissions in their emergency room and would instead transfer them to other facilities.

The statement previously posted on the main page of cmmc.org is no longer there but stated that "Central Maine Medical Center is temporarily suspending pediatrics admissions. Pediatric patients who arrive at the CMMC Emergency Department will be evaluated, stabilized and if needed, transported to another facility for inpatient treatment." A similar statement appeared on the website that applied to heart attack and trauma patients.

No reason for the suspension of admissions was given by the hospital.

What will that mean for you if you bring your child to the CMMC Emergency Department?

As with all three of the types of patients that are temporarily not being admitted, they will be seen by staff and treated for anything that needs urgent attention. However, if they need to be admitted to the hospital for further treatment, they will be transferred to another hospital.

Though no reason was given for the temporary suspension of admissions, CBS 13 reports that 84 CMMC staff members have resigned and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has closed due to staff resignations.

CMMC has not confirmed if the admission suspensions are also because of the resignations.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
