Hard to believe a whole decade has gone by since these songs were in heavy rotation on CYY. Top 5 at 5 History Book is open to this day in 2004.

5. The Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called Love

I remember the record guy coming to the station to play us a song. We were all kind of taken back by it. There was nothing out at the time that sounded like this. It was reminiscent of 80's arena rockl but with high tenor vocal stylings from singer Justin Hawkins. We immediately fell in love with this song.

4. Nickelback - Figured You Out

This band has become more and more of a joke to a lot of people over the years. It was then, and even more so now, not very cool to like Nickelback. Even though that seems to be the deal, they still seem to sell a ton of records each time they release an album. Each album is sure to include some pop rock ballads that end up on pop radio, and you can always count on a dirty one. For instance, the song that was #4 this day in 2004.

3. Lostprophets - Last Train Home

Not gonna spend a whole lot of time on this one. This band has been boycotted from CYY and I would assume most, if not all radio stations around the world. Feel free to do some research if you wish.

2. Headstart - Do This

This band had it all back in 2002, with the exception of the proper exposure and a good record deal. The songs were great, and they fit right into what was happening on the pop/punk tip. Unfortunately in the business, it takes who you know to get your feet off the ground. I still think to this day these guys could've been playing Warped Tour. Happy to say this hard working band celebrated their tenth anniversary last year, and still going. This song got massive local exposure on CYY and via the Maine Today TV spot.

1. Blink 182 - I Miss You

Number 1 this day in 2004 was the second single from Blink 182's self titled album. Definitely a step in a new direction for the band. A much more mature sound with more grown up lyrics. This would be their last until they reformed in 2011 for their album "Neighbourhoods."
