For 23 years, people have driven by a farm on Route 115 in North Yarmouth and seen the small painted sign with a steam locomotive on it and the name "Toots Ice Cream." They've pulled in and walked up to the old caboose converted into an ice cream shop and ordered their favorite flavor while enjoying a beautiful summer day. Toots Ice Cream quickly became a local landmark and a popular place to get your favorite treat. Now, the family-owned business is expanding with a second location.

Don't worry. The red caboose isn't going anywhere but like a lot of ice cream stands, it closed after Labor Day. But if you can't make it through the winter without Toots, a brand new location will open on Saturday and be open all year round.

Toots Ice Cream's second location is at 21 Memorial Highway/Route 9 in North Yarmouth, just a mere one and a half miles from the original location and near North Yarmouth Variety.

The grand opening is on September 18 from noon to 8 and then regular hours will be Tuesday through Sunday 12 to 8 all year round.

This is huge news for fans of Toots Ice Cream now that they are able to get their homemade ice cream year-round and when summer comes still visit the classic red caboose at the original location.
