Watch Mainers Collect Oysters Using… Chainsaws?
Winter in Maine has always provided additional difficulty when it comes to hunting, fishing, and growing food for us to eat. That's just a fact of life. Mainers have found increasingly creative ways to combat this over the years, but none are quite as, well, alarming as this initially sounds.
As reported by the Bangor Daily News earlier today, The Mere Point Oyster Company in Brunswick were determined not to let the huge amount of ice that stood between them and their goal affect them. So what was their answer? Chainsaws, of course. Check out the BDN's video here.
It's awesome to see the determination Mainers have to get the job done, even in the toughest of conditions. Now if only we could use chainsaws to dig out the cars stuck up in Hallowell...
