After 28 years serving on the Town of Paris Police Department, Chief Hartley "Skip" Mowatt officially signs off.

No one calls him Hartley. He goes by Skip and he joined the Paris Police Department in 1991. He was promoted to Sergeant just before being deployed to Iraq with the Army National Guard. When he returned, he served as the school resource officer for Oxford Hills for several years before being promoted once again to Chief of Police in 2016.

On Friday, May 31, he retired from the Paris Police Department as is done traditional in the police force, but giving a final 10-7, police code for "out of service."

He got a little choked up while thanking all the local police departments in Oxford County and the dispatchers at the Oxford County Regional Communication Center.

Thanks for your service Chief, both to the Oxford Hill community and to your country. Enjoy your retirement. You will be missed.
