What Exactly is Clash, Bash & BBQ?

On August 16th, we're throwing another party! This time we're taking over Portland's newest venue, Thompson's Point, right along the waterfront. It's located right behind the Amtrak Station.

What is exactly is "The Clash"? It's short for The Clash of the Titans which is a weekly event held in Portland for over a decade. It's current home is at Empire on Congress St on Wednesday nights. Every week local musicians from around the area get together and perform the music of a certain artist and band. It's a friendly competition that ends in the audience deciding the best band of the night by sound of applause. Previous Clash's include: Pearl Jam vs Stone Temple Pilots and Foo Fighters vs Arctic Monkeys.

Here's what we're doing to switch it up, while getting all 4 of our stations involved. Instead of the typical 2 bands going head to head, this one will be a battle of the decades. 70's (WBLM) 80's (WHOM) 90's (WCYY) and 2K's (WJBQ). An example of what you might see? An Aerosmith song into Phil Collins into Weezer into Pink. Or perhaps Led Zeppelin into Hall & Oates into Green Day into Justin Timberlake.

It's going to be a day of non-stop music on the waterfront combined with ice cold beer and wine and BBQ vendors from all over the area that will be judged by station DJ's and local judges. All of the food showcased will be available for purchase at the event!

I'm going to say (70's) Cheap Trick - Surrender (80s) Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror (90s) Lit - My Own Worst Enemy (2K's) Daft Punk - Get Lucky, would be pretty dope. C'mon, tell me you wouldn't raise your beer and sing loudly and off key to them jams!
