If you have a fur baby, then you are going to love this. I am sure you know what an Airbnb is (a house, condo, apartment, etc that you can rent instead of getting a hotel room), but do you know what a Sniffspot is?

According to WMUR Channel 9, Sniffspot was founded four years ago by David Adams. Sniffspot is both a website and an app that you can use and it is practically an Airbnb for dogs.

Sniffspot lets anyone that has a backyard or land offer that space up as a safe and private dog park that can be rented by the hour.

Therefore you and your fur baby can have a safe and private space to play. This is great if your dog tends to get distracted easily and it is perfect if you do not have a yard for your dog to play in.

Of course, you will be going to someone else's house to take advantage of this, however, the homeowners do not interact with any of the guests.

This is such a great concept that I do not feel many people know about it. There is only one home in the Portland area that is offered, and luckily it is fenced in.

Located in South Portland, is this cute fenced-in backyard that is over .5 acres for you and your four-legged friend to play in.

For only $14 an hour (50% off all dogs after the 1st dog and 25% off hourly price for 30 min visit) this house in South Portland seems to have raving reviews.

It is important to note that the owners of the house also have dogs that will be inside while you are enjoying the outdoors (so you may still see other dogs). You will have your own private entry to the backyard.

Just like any rental, there are rules that you will need to follow:

  • Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the spot
  • Make sure the area is safe and secure before bringing your dog in
  • Arrive and leave on time
  • Pick up after your dog(s)

If you choose to rent your own dog park here, it is a 30-minute requirement and there are no public bathrooms for you to utilize. There are chairs, a table, places to be in shade, as well as a lake or pond in the area as well.
