You Can Now See a 65 Million Year Old Dinosaur Egg in Maine
According to a wicked-cool Facebook post from the Rock & Art Shop in Bangor, they have recently taken in a dinosaur egg that they estimate is around 65 million years old. Jokingly (at least we think jokingly?!) they said they'd let us know if it hatches. Wouldn't that be wild, eh?
According to WABI TV 5, owners of the shop say that this particular egg is part of a collection from Mongolia. And while the shop isn't completely sure on whether they will keep or sell the egg, they do say that this is a perfect example of why they opened the shop in the first place- so that people can get a chance to see things just like this prehistoric dinosaur egg.
For all you curious cats and kittens out there wondering exactly what (breed?) of dinosaur this egg belongs to, no one is really certain.
Owner Amanda Sohns told WABI, ”I’m not going to be able to tell you exactly what species it is, but you can actually kind of even see the shell if you get in close, you’ll actually see the shell an the crackling of it like the normal egg would do".
