Shinedown’s Zach Myers Names His 3 Favorite Restaurants to Visit in Portland, Maine
If you can make a member of a rock band comfortable and talking, there's no telling what fun and interesting things may come out of their mouth.
Two members of the powerhouse rock band Shinedown recently visited Portland, Maine, on a promotional tour behind their latest single, "A Symptom of Being Human". During a backstage interview, guitarist Zach Myers was asked if he ever gets a chance to actually enjoy the city while on the road, and he didn't hesitate to answer.
Myers mentioned that over the years, he's spend several of his off days exploring in and around Portland, specifically, enjoying some of the seafood restaurants the city has to offer. Myers, a Memphis, Tennessee, native, wasn't shy about his love for Maine seafood.
Gilbert's Chowder House
While many of us in Maine take it for granted, it's far more difficult to find a New England-style preparation of chowder in other parts of the country. Myers proclaimed that Gilbert's has been his favorite place to visit because the chowder is just that good to a Tennessee kid.
J's Oyster
J's has long been a place where visiting rockstars go to hide and enjoy a classic Maine seafood feast along the way. Myers mentioned that being in J's felt like a place from New England you'd see in the movies. He's not wrong. It's cozy, loud, and the perfect place to grab fresh seafood.
Yosaku
Perhaps a little unexpected to be on this list, Myers mentioned Yosaku as a place he enjoyed visiting as well. Why? Because of the wide variety of sushi and how fresh it tasted.
