After 300 Years, Historic $1.6M Home With Ties to the Revolutionary War is for Sale in MA
For the first time in over 300 years, a historic Colonial home in Concord, Massachusetts, is on the market.
Built in 1653, the five-bedroom, 4-bathroom, 4,510 square foot home on 99 Sudbury Road is situated on 0.69 acres of land, and listed by Bob Champey with William Raveis R.E. & Home Services for $1,649,000.
According to the listing, the home features "period details such as wide-plank wood flooring, 5 fireplaces, and a switch-back staircase, in addition to 4 full baths, a fully-finished basement and walk-up attic, all with extensive storage space throughout." The property's also in a convenient location, situated close to downtown Concord and all it has to offer.
It's the history about this home that makes it particularly fascinating for potential homebuyers. According to WCVB, the property was originally purchased by a man named John Scotchford back in 1653, when the home was built. The house would eventually be sold to a Mr. Deacon Edward Wheeler in 1696, and remain in that family for the next 300+ years up to the present day. Now, after all this time, it's up for sale.
WCVB goes on to explain that while the Wheelers owned the home, it would end up being used to "store tents, axes, spades and utensils," during the Revolutionary War, as one of the Wheeler men was a lieutenant in the Continental Army. How cool is that?
