Arby’s is Returning to Southern Maine With a New Location
There's no shortage of fast food restaurants throughout the state of Maine.
Over the last several years, new chains have popped up as well. From Chick-fil-A to Popeye's and beyond, some new and popular fast food chains continue to make their way into the state.
There's been one old favorite that has had a rocky road in southern Maine. That would be Arby's, which operated a few restaurants in the southern portion in the state for awhile.
The last of those Arby's locations closed inside the Maine Mall in 2021 and it seemed like Arby's wasn't coming back.
But it is.
Arby's Set to Open New Location in Scarborough, Maine
According to City of Scarborough planning board documents, a developer has sent plans for review that include the building of a brand new Arby's restaurant at 183 U.S. Route One.
The plans calls for this Arby's location to be a condensed one. That means there would be limited to no indoor seating and the restaurant would mostly operate on drive-thru business, take out and delivery options as well.
It Could Still Be Awhile Before The New Arby's Location Opens
While those that miss a good beef n' cheddar or some piping hot curly fries may be excited, it's still likely going to be awhile before this new Arby's location is operational.
The project is still in the plan review process and if it's accepted, between construction and staffing, it would likely several months to a year or more before the new Arby's would be ready to go along a busy stretch of route one.
Arby's currently operates 4 locations in Maine. Auburn, Augusta, Topsham and Presque Isle.
