Are You Excited or Disappointed About What is Coming to Payne Road in Scarborough?

We know one of the three stores, and it's the anchor store.

In the parking lot of Marden's in Scarborough, Maine, new construction is underway. We know one of the retail businesses going in. And it's the anchor store.

According to PM Construction, this is a multi-space retail development. The anchor tenant will be Starbucks, with a drive-thru. I think I heard both cheering and boos. To each their own. I'm a Dunkin' gal myself, but if you're a fan of Starbucks, well, Scarborough will have two drive-thrus about four-and-a-half miles from each other.

Scarborough is an expansive city, so it could most certainly handle two Starbucks. I mean, I know there are closer Dunkin's than this. Of course, the closest two businesses of the same type are in Portland, Maine. A Dollar Tree opened across from a Dollar General. They are literally 1/10 of a mile from each other.

Here's the good news. Maybe you don't even drink coffee, there are a couple of other storefronts, but so far, mum's the word on what could be on Payne Road in Scarborough. Some have guessed that it might be a pot store. I'm thinking the boom of cannabis stores might have reached the tipping point. So, what else would you like to see next to a Starbucks?
