Portland, Maine, Restaurant Named One of the Best in Nation for Chinese Food

If you had to guess which cuisine is the most popular in America, you may instinctively go directly to Italian food. For several decades in America, that was true. But over the past decade or so, Italian food has been usurped by a different cuisine, Chinese. According to Quality Assurance, Google searches for Chinese food from coast-to-coast prove that it has become the most popular in the country.

That sounds about right when you notice the number of Chinese food restaurants that exist throughout the state of Maine. With so many choices across the state, it can be difficult to narrow down which one of those restaurants serves up the best dishes.

According to LoveFood, they accepted the challenge, and named Empire Chinese Kitchen in Portland as the top destination in the state for delicious Chinese food dishes. For fans of Empire, this isn't exactly a surprise.

Empire has become a must-visit for those that don't make it to Portland often. Their menu is packed with flavorful dishes including the ever-popular honey walnut shrimp, orange beef, and bacon fried rice. It's rare that any restaurant can maintain a near-perfect rating amongst customers on Google, but Empire has managed to do so.

Chinese food is notorious for its takeout ability, but Empire had also won over patrons by offering an incredible dining experience at the restaurant. The pandemic forced Empire to become takeout only for years, but they recently reopened their dining room to happy customers.

While Empire may have been named Maine's best Chinese food restaurant, there are dozens of small restaurants across the state pumping out some incredible dishes.
