Upscale Lewiston, Maine, Restaurant Closes Permanently
It's been a years of ups and downs for the restaurant industry throughout Maine. There have been several notable restaurant closures throughout southern Maine, which included restaurants with decades worth of history.
While it may seem like the closures are mostly a Portland, Maine, and surrounding areas problem, they are not. The latest city to be struck by a closure is Lewiston, where an upscale eatery has decided to close their doors for good.
According to their own website, bon Vivant has decided to close permanently. In a short blurb that pop ups, the restaurant thanks visitors for their patronage and directs them to visit Sonder & Dram for tasty food as well as to use any bon Vivant gift cards that may still be unused.
It's a disappointing conclusion to a restaurant that received a ton of hype before it opened and plenty of glowing reviews once the restaurant got rolling from both patrons as well as critics.
Bon Vivant opened in the middle of 2023 as an upscale alternative to much of the standard restaurant fare found throughout Lewiston. The 50-seat restaurant felt like someone took a popular Portland restaurant and placed it into an empty space along Lisbon Street.
Bon Vivant joins the list of other fine dining and upscale restaurants to close in recent months. That list includes Helm Oyster Bar and Bistro as well as Local 188 in Portland and the Garrison in Yarmouth.
No reason was given as to why bon Vivant closed through their website.
