Boothbay Railway Village Opens on Father’s Day, and Dads Ride Free

It's opening weekend for a very popular attraction up in Midcoast, Maine.

The Railway Village Museum in Boothbay opens this Sunday, June 19, for the season. The unique village is an homage to the late 19th and 20th Century, celebrating this country's incredible innovation and ingenuity. Located on Wiscasset Road, it's conveniently located on the way to Boothbay Harbor.

The mission of the family-friendly museum is to

Conserve, display and interpret artifacts, authentic period structures and technologies utilized in Maine during the historical period of the Mid-19th through the Mid-20th Centuries.

The large museum grounds features numerous exhibits. They include village stores, an antique auto museum, train models, a schoolhouse, goats, train stations, and a railroad, just to name a few. You can check out the entire map here.

Opening day for the museum will be an even bigger deal this year, considering it falls right on Father's Day. And to make the day even sweeter, the Railway Village Museum is allowing free admission to all fathers for the occasion. That's quite a great gesture by the museum, especially on its very first day being open.

The museum will be open Tuesday through Sunday this year, with daily hours of 10am to 5pm. There's a $15 admission fee for adults, $8 for children 3-18, and $12 for seniors. Children under 3 are free, just like pop this Sunday.
