Check Out The Freebies and Discounts Available Today For Veterans and Active-Duty Personnel

Local and national restaurants and shops are offering a variety of freebies and discounts in honor of Veterans Day. Check some of them out here. 

According to the Portland Press Herald, military veterans and active-duty personnel can find freebies and discounts in Maine today at the following restaurants and shops:

In Portland, Botto's Bakery is offering a free coffee from 6am-2pm for all veterans.

Additionally, Two Fat Cats Bakery in Portland is offering 15 percent off veterans and active-duty officers entire order.

Nationally, several chains are offering different discounts and freebies. They include:

Applebees: With proof of military service, patrons can receive a free meal from a designated menu.

Cracker Barrel: Offering a free slice of Coca-Cola Double Fudge Cake to military personnel. Additionally, 10 percent of all Coca-Cola cake sales for the remainder of the day will go to the USO 360 Transition Alliance, which helps veterans and their families transition back into society after service.

Denny's: Active, retired and inactive military personnel can enjoy a free build-your-own Grand Slam breakfast until 2pm today.

Hometown Buffet: They will provide free lunch from 11am-2pm today for all veterans and active duty personnel. Proof of service or military uniform required.

IHOP: They will serve "patriotic pancakes" until 7pm this evening. Veterans and active-duty  personnel can enjoy a red, white and blue pancake combo plate that includes eggs and hash browns with proof of military service.

On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina: Offering active-duty personnel and veterans a free "create your own combo" meal.

Texas Roadhouse: is opening early to provide a free lunch to all veterans and active-duty military personnel. All locations are offering a six-ounce steak with two sides and a drink.
