
Popular Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Restaurant Closing For Winter
There's a very good chance that along the way to visit one of your favorite state parks or iconic lighthouses in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, that you've passed The Good Table restaurant.
The family-style restaurant was originally opened back in 1986 and operated as a consistent and welcoming place for residents and visitors to Cape Elizabeth to visit.
A fire in 2001 nearly wiped the restaurant out. But after a rebuild, loyal customers returned to the eclectic restaurant like nothing had ever happened.
So with nearly 40 years of name recognition and goodwill established, an internet rumor about the restaurant sparked some frustration from longtime fans.
The Good Table in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Announces Winter Break
On December 19, an individual claiming to be a manager at The Good Table in Cape Elizabeth posted in the Portland, Maine, Facebook group that the restaurant would be closing permanently in January.
That post was deleted within hours and quickly thereafter, The Good Table took to their social media accounts to announce the restaurant would be taking a winter break starting on January 4.
No reopening date for The Good Table was announced as part of the statement on the restaurant's winter break fueling additional rumors that the end may be near for the historic restaurant.
The Good Table Restaurant in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Was Sold in 2023
According to MaineBiz, in June of 2023, the original owners of The Good Table restaurant sold the business to the Prentice Hospitality Group.
The restaurant was reopened in 2024 under new ownership with a slightly different vibe than the original Good Table.
For now, it appears to be simply a winter break. The question remains if the legacy will live on.
